Default Yellowstone Bull Elk in Snow

From last years winter in Yellowstone IPT.. I was waist deep in snow working a couple of beautiful bulls when this one decides to walk right at me.. He kept getting to close for the focal length lens I was using... I chose the 600mm lens to keep a good working distance from the bulls so not to stress them during winter when they need all the calories they can muster. Mature bulls loose a lot of weight during the rut in Sept/Oct and during a bad winter mortality can be high from starvation.....

Good looking bull, with great adornment in the head. For a moment I though it was the one we saw very late on the first day. What a terrific place and thanks for the memories :)

Low shooting angle really emphasizes the size of this nice bull. Hope to get some looks in Feb.

The low angle gives an unique perspective. I can't believe that you were waist deep in snow. The result is certainly worth it. I like it.

I like the slightly off center head angle and the raised front leg. Gives the feeling of trudging through the snow. I also like the subtle snow flakes visible on the dark fur. They also add to the snowy feel without being overpowering or distracting. Nice image.
