    Steve,
I like this image. I would crop the top bright layer. I feel that takes away the attention from the bison. Initially, I used to warm the images. But I realised that increasing the colour temperature artificially, can easily be noticed by the trained eye. You can see lot of people trying to make their images appear golden, but it become evident. I feel a tastefully composed image with little bit of processing to bring out the required changes (shadows, contrast etc) is much better than an over processed image. Most of the times the AWB of canon is fine, except under artificial lights. For white balance I select the starting point through the eye dropper and then do minor changes after that.
    Cheers,

Another vote for evicting the light top part. I like this one very much, a nice change from the snow. Isn't that the time they breed?

Very well done. Agree with top band removal, make a big difference imo. Color, detail and pose all great.

Nice detail and eye contact, Steve. One more for cropping the bright along the top.

    Fabs,
I just missed the rut by a couple of weeks (late Jul-early Aug). There was still a little grunting and bellowing going on but not much else.

I'm getting the feeling that I saw the bright strip on top a little differently. Recrop without does look a little better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Everyone summed up this critique pretty well. Another vote for cropping the top some.
