    That red head is very eye-catching Rene - looks as if the Woodpecker has just alighted on the branch and hasn't yet stood erect. Focus on the bird is very soft. Some fill flash would have brightened the chest and put a catchlight in the eye.

    Colours are great Rene. I agree with John that the image looks soft and fill flash would have helped. The head angle gives us a good look at the bright red on top of the head but I think would be better with the head not tilted. I higher shooting position would be good but not alweays easily achievable. Perch has nice texture and looks like a good foraging zone for a woodpecker. Not sure about the thin twig on the right - I think I would try and clone that out
