    Very nice capture Denise,
You have sharp details and good colors on the woody...I would lighten the backgound just a tad...personal taste...:D:cool:

Did well with the slow shutter speed Denise Good holding technique !!!

For the tight shots steep looks sort of strange for me. Seems to get out of proportion but you did make the best possible image from your position !!!

Very good details! You must have very steady hands :) It appears the focus is on the chest. I would sharp the eye a bit more.

Help me understand something here. I'm viewing this on a calibrated monitor, and the feathers indicated by the arrow have a cyan cast. Other images I see of this species have white/off-white feathers here.

I'm not a bird watcher, but I retouch a lot of bird images, so I'm trying to learn how to judge when to adjust color and when to leave it alone. Do some birds of this species have a cyan cast in these feathers? Or is it safe to assume they're neutral? Thanks for any guidance.

David, Good eye I never even saw that till you pointed it out-Thanks! What did you do to check? Or is your eye just in tune to color casts? Because you seem to be really good at it.I use the color-picker in LR2

I've corrected so many color casts, I tend to just see them now. When it's a close call, I usually pull up Color Cop and check the numbers. It also shows you a large swatch of the sampled color, which in this case is baby blue. (Color Cop is a free utility, very compact and very handy.) And of course if you're already inside Photoshop, the Info palette will tell the tale.

    Hi Denise:

    Lovely portrait . . . I like it.

Color Cop very handy, it's been around for years, and easy to use.

    David's full of great information

    Thanks for sharing
