    Default No New iMac

I waited. Mac World came. Mac World went. No new iMac. All I can say is anticlimactic!

Guess now I will just order the one I originally spec'ed.

I only expected small changes anyway, such as faster memory. Maybe the new quad core processors are not available yet. My iMac still works as well as yesterday. :)

The rumours I saw weren't for much of any significance. I don't think you will be disappointed with a current iMac.

Hey, do you think I should get the $169 3-year warranty package?

I don't normally go for extended warranties although I made an exception on my Prius. Is the iMac in that same category? Should I go with the extended warranty on the iMac?

I didn't get the extended warranty. All my computers that survived the first year worked for a long time. If I remember correctly, you can still get the warranty later if you make up your mind.

The last extended warranty I purchased--the repair company went "belly up" !
The computer company tried to wiggle out of responsibility but since they sold the warranty I persisted. They finally took the laptop and it was repaired(after 6 months),so I was not priority.
Probably agree that warranty may not be worth it if company covers it at least one yr.

You can buy the extended warranty any time in the first year to extend it up to 3 years.

Ed on a Mac the only thing I get extended warranty is on a laptop as I have eight in my business and have used it every time as laptops take more abuse being carted around in cars, home and outside. They are real pricey to fix also.

My towers I have never had problems with (knock on wood.)

I went into my local Apple Store today only to learn that the configuration I wanted has to be special ordered. So I went home and did just that.

I am now the proud owner of a 24" iMac 3.06 Ghz Processor, 4GB RAM; 1 TB Hard Drive; nVIDEA GeForce 8800 GS. Should be delivered end of next week. :D

Now I need a cross-platform upgrade of Lightroom from 1 to 2. And PS CS4 (a big jump from the PS7 that I've been using on my PC).

No need for a cross platform upgrade for LR, Ed. LR and LR2 serial numbers work with both PC and Mac so you can just download the version you need and install with your serial number. PS4 you will need cross platform upgrade but I just phoned Adobe and explained the situation as I had already bought a Mac upgrade and they gave me a S/N to use for install - I have always had very good service from Adobe helpline in Australia. You will find a big change from PS7!

I hope you will like it. Calibrating the monitor makes it even better, at least in my case.

According to the Adobe website for an upgrade to CS4 you need CS3, CS2 or CS.

Yes I know, Bill. I will have to lay out the $600+ for CS4 for Mac.
