    Default Pelican 3/4 profile

Photographed in the early yellow light. I had the cliff to myself on this morning and the wind direction caused the pelicans to bank at the last moment before setting up for landing, so I managed to bag some somewhat oblique images rather than the usual head on variety of the "conductor" shot. The spot is a droplet of water not a dust speck :)

1DsII / 300mm handheld / ISO 320 / 1/1600 @ f/7.1 / metered to just avoid clipping the whites in the guano on the rocks and the white neck feathers.

Nice. I like the way this looks in the frame.

I like the pose, light and details. If you have, maybe a bit more space.

Wonderful pose. Great details and excellent background. All in all a very good image.

Even though it is a drop of water I would still clone it out rather than having to explain it everytime ;-) Beautiful wingspread with lots of feather detail. I like the horizon below serving as a backdrop to your signature!

Great pose. I like the oblique angles best on these incoming flights. Is this the "retirement" shot or should I keep trying?

You must have a full house at La Jolla these days!. Great action. The bill gets a little lost against the wing, but still a nice pose

Hi John! I don't think so. As was so famously said: "I will know it when I see it"...

So I have heard...but I have been tied up with other things and now the weather looks to change this week from the clear mornings we have enjoyed, so I may not get back down there until after the full house has come and gone.
