    Default Oystercatcher

    Nikon d2H, 400mm f2.8 afs-II, 1.4tc
    ISO 200, 1/1600 at f7.1
    raw, pricessed in NC 4.4.2
    tripod
    sun Jan 4th Little Estero Lagoon about 4pm

    Is this too dark? Sometimes my pp tends towards the darker side when bright whites are involved.
    How is the white balance? I sometimes have a color cast so I tried using the gray point in nc capture on the whites to get the right color cast.

    cheers

    I like the angle, pose and eye contact. The whites look too dark on my monitor, probably due to relatively harsh light.

    axel;

    thanks for the feedback and yes you are right.

    My son helped me get the right exposure this time.
    BTW Strange occurrence in Nikon capture this shows as white, but in my picture viewer (picassa) and on upload via picassa right now, it has a much bluer color cast. And it is brighter in NC, Strange?

    The repost looks better but there is still a slight color cast.

    Maybe you need to calibrate your monitor if the whites look so different. I sometimes compare the same image in Safari (color-managed) and Firefox to see if it looks different.

    In NC it is clearly whiter and brighter but in Picassa picture viewer it is darker and bluer. I just changed the Picassa viewer back to the windows viewer and it shows perfectly. Unfortunately i uploaded the picture via Picassa and that seems to be where the problem is. I'll check to see if i can change the settings in Picassa.

    thannks

    The whites in the repost do look better, and this is nice and sharp Gavin. Well captured.
