Wow, taking off with extra weight! Very interesting post.
I'd try to run some shadow/highlight and see if you get more detail in the shadows. Love the DOF in the head.

Very interesting, I have never seen this. I like the incoming pose and wish the left wing were a bit higher and agree regarding more details in the shadows.
