    Default Great Horned Owl - Western Taiga subspecies

    My nephew and I found this owl on a drive north of Edmonton on Jan 1st. Also saw a Northern Goshawk and a Northern Hawk Owl, but no photos worthy of this forum.

    50D with Canon 100-400L

    Welcome to BPN, Doug. Nice first post and find of this bird. I would sharpen the bird a bit more and wish both eyes were sunlit. Alternatively, you could try to lighten the bird's right eye. The BG is a bit busy but there is not much you could have done about it. Keep them coming!

    That's a neat looking owl. Kind of a cross between a Great Horned and a Snowy. I might try a more vertical crop, eliminating the trunk on the right.
