This was shot on Christmas Day. I work on an ambulance and am rarely without an camera for the down times. Crisp cold day with decent light after several days of overcast. Shot with the 40D with 70-300IS, ISO100, 300 mm, f9 at 1/40sec. Cropping and sharpening in LR/CS4.

    Thank you

Hi Russell Great idea having the camera with you !!!

Cute pose and timing The light was a bit harsh for this one and its difficult to fit the entire range !!! Light was also coming from the right so the left side of the duck is in shade. btw if you find a strong reflection with harsh light just go for the reflection and skip the bird !!!!

    Hi Russell,
I like the composition and capture...agree with Mr. Forns on the lighting issue..you need to constantly monitor the sun for proper lighting...

Good One Russell, Good pose and caught the reflection. Also sharp considering the ss. You may want to try upping the ss and opening up the aperture to get even sharper photos. Dave

Regarding ss and aperture, I just recently started (mainly due to this site) moving into higher ISO's and faster SS. Slow to post new images as I am still learning the basics. Thank you for the assistance with light, I have one of a roadrunner that I like the pose, yet there is a massive amount of CA and fringe light I cant remove :(

Thank you for your kind guidance.

Like your pose and the reflection Russell, looks like the lighting was a bit harsh and coming from the side. Looking forward to more!
