    Default Too big to handle ?

    Made this image near a lake in Duisburg - Germany.
    I wondered as to why the female had a big abdomen - did she carry eggs? If she did, then is it normal that they mate while the insect is pregnant ... ?



    Nikon D70s + Nikkor 105mm VR micro.
    f16, 1/30, ISO200, Hand-held.

    Views are welcome...

    An interesting image Kaushik - Love the greens and iridescent colours of the beetle's wing casings. I would be interested to hear from an entomologist about this behaviour.
