We had some really nice light in the last week of 2009. These days, the sun is very low, which gives very soft light, especially at the end of the day. The light made the water shine with a golden glow, which really complemented this male Mallards colors. I'm still in doubt to crop from top and bottom. Suggestions very welcome! Btw, details on the feathers looked much better before compression.
Hi Jerry. The crop is a little tight for me; I'd like to see more room on the right. The bird looks sharp and the water is pretty. There are a couple of hot spots on the bird that should be toned down if possible.
Hi Jerry,
Nice light in this one. Nice irredicence on the head, water colours, and look back look. Would work a little on the BG noise, the hot areas and would also add some canvas around it like Doug suggested. And next time you have an oppertunity like this try for a lower angle as it would greatly improve your photo IMHO.
Cheers,
Krijn

Hi Doug and Krijn, thanks for your comments. I've been back in PP and came up with this repost. Gave the duck more room and changed the image ratio along the way. Also worked on the noise in the BG and added slightly more saturation to the colors. I'm not really sure I got rid of all the hot spots. The histogram looks quite okay now. Hope you like it.
