I'm not a big fan of HDR for landscapes when they have the HDR look. Images tend to have all mid tones and lack Dmax blacks, not that is right or wrong is just a mater of taste.

This morning I was doing sunrises but nature did not cooperate and had no color so I shifted to the other side and try for a sunrise over the trees. Basic image was made up form five exposures one stop apart. Normally just set the sequence in camera and use a remote trigger.

Image was processed in PhotoMatix Pro then PS4. Did the normal enhancement of levels, curves, density gradiant and then played with plug-in filters. OnOne PhotoTools was neat Have lots of different effect particularly the presets. Might want to give them a try.

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

like the sunrise! i like what you did by adding the density to the sky considering it was fairly blank. is there a color cast on the foreground shoreline? there's something in the water and on the log that doesnt look exactly right. maybe like an oily sheen?

Really nice Alfred. A nice range of tones, from bblacks or near blacks to the hot sun. Nice position for the sun. I really get attracted to the nice soggy, loggy, reedy foreground so my preference would be to take a bit off the top and draw more attention into the fore ground. Good one,
    Dave

Harold I played around so much with the image is hard to tell what is there. At some point I used the density brushes in LR2 but backed away and went to the gradient tool, that might be it.

... but the most exciting was the OnOne software !!! ... Like the idea Dave !!!

Alfred, I like the colors very much! The overall feel is very moody and I like it!

Now this is the type of HDR image I like a lot!!! Is, but doesn't look it and it is just a personal taste thing.

Nice range from dark to light Al, and really like the DOF. Are you doing exposure blending???
