    Hi to all of you,
I want to take part at a German Nature Photographers Contest, and this is one of the images I want to send to the contest.
Can you give me some advice, what Post Processing you would do with the Image?
There is not very much allowed, no cloning or changing the BG or stuff like that, but of course it is allowed to change Things like contrast, saturation or sharpening or blurring a bit...

Any ideas and help for me?

Thank you very much and please feel free to play with my image...

Rosl, what was mentioned in my images of the junco which has a dark face, was to lighten at least around the eye, to bring it out. I don't know if you want to lighten the black face stripes just a little, to bring out the eyes, and then sharpen the eyes.

I like it as presented Nonda You could try working on the eyes to make them more visible, would like seeing the eye clearly defined. I like the position and cropping very much I also like the soft look, could enhance the contrast but I feel it will destroy the delicate look. I think you got a winner !!!!

the sharpness of the perch in the foreground keeps drawing my eye. I would try softening that or even cropping, to see if more attention then goes to the bird.

Nice photo Rosl and good luck in the competition. I, too, am a bit distracted by the perch and might try cropping off the bottom bit with out crowding the bird, if possible. I also like the "eye" suggestions.

    Hi Rosl,
I like the composition, image and capture. I like it as presented...if you want, you can open up the black bands along the eyes to make the eye more prominent and selective sharpen...the best of luck to you...I hope you win the contest...:D:)

Hi Rosl, I like the composition very much, may wish for some more canvas on the right. Too bad the focal point is just in front of the head. I would suggest to try to gain some color on the bird (e.g. by increasing saturation). It looks a little washed out in the presented image. In my experience, these little guys a little more colorful. It may help to make the bird stand out better from the perch.
Best of luck in the competition!

    Hi,
thanks for the quick response! I will try to crop a little bit from the bottom, and try to follow your good advice!
Gus, how can I open the black band around the eyes?

Rosl I tried selecting the area around the eye with quick mask and lightening just a tad. Did seem to give separation to the eye, the left one popped right away the right is a little harder but works.

    Hi Rosl,
I thought the image had a bit of a colour cast to it, and I lightened the eyes and sharpened them. And also sharpened around the head area a bit.

Hi Rosl, I opened your image and simply went to Levels and clicked the brush to set the white point, that removed the cast and simultaneously put some life into the eyes, I reckon if you go back to your original and go to levels, and then click on the white point and click on the cheeks there won't be too much work to do.

    Thanks to all of you for sending me your advice;
Gus I've got your email and I will work with the eye band, like you told me.

Also I want to thank you for all the good wishes for the contest! I am allowed to sed three Bird pictures and some of you might know the other two images, I am going to send: one is of the two atlantic puffins "kissing" each other (I posted it here in July), the other one is from sparrow flying against a blackbird, both in rain; I think, I showed it here in the forum too, didn't I?

So may be I am lucky, may be not, but I am going to try it...
    Thanks to all of you,
    Rosl
