From earlier today, some blowing snow and wind. 50D, 70/200 f/4 at 200mm, Av mode, 1/500, f/5.6, EC+1. I think the picture looks fine but I'm not sure were the feathers went. I had thought there would be a bit more fine feather detail showing up. Perhaps Topaz Denoise? I am not sure. Dave

Wow! As my high school English teacher once said, "It don't get no better than that."

Thanks David and Denise. It is a nice picture, thanks to the bird! It looks a little too much of something, not sure what.
Denise I had been using a Canon 350 so a decent upgrade for me. I really like it. I see you have a 40D so the same controls etc. It is nice, good battery life, 15mp files are big and as raw take a time to download. I am really still getting used to it. I need to check out live view and I also use 400ISO alot, which would have been more of an issue witht he 350. It's good . Dave

David, Its a Harrier whats not to like:) NR software can muck up fine detail if not used right, so question would be did you need it for this image?? What was your ISO, +1 looks fine for exposure?

Why not repost in this thread w/o the NR would be easy to tell then if it is the software..Just a thought

Love the pose, nice and sharp, good going!

I like this very much. The lighting and pose are truly fantastic.
In regards to fine detail I echo the above about NR. I'd also take a closer look at the resizing & sharpening. Sometimes detail gets lost in the res down process.

Very well composed and executed Dave,
I like the high key image, it brings out all of the details on your bird. I like the flight angle and that prominent sharp eye...good show...

Thanks for all the comments. As per Nonda's excellent suggestion I did a quick reproc. without any nr. I have not had a look at both yet so..
