love the posture and wing position. Great lighting beneath the wings. Your timing in this image creates a lot of energy in the photo. The whites look hot on my monitor, though.

    Hi Jean,

Why is this picture in the Eager to Learn forum? This should be in the Avian Forum.

    Excellent timing and exposure.

    I'm proud of you!!

    Keep them coming!

Hi Jean Excellent image I like the action, sharpness and timing You did well with the light and light angle !! Lots of good things going on here.

One suggestion is the exposure compensation, its unusual to have one full stop for a bird with prominent white areas in full sun (when its not large in frame) With the bird flaring the wings are not in shadow as when the bird is overhead so even to plus 1/3 would be the most I would have guessed.

If you have LR 2.0 you can bring the whites to looking perfect without much trouble, the new curves feature really works and its easy to master.

One other things that would make a difference is a slightly different wing position, more fully open. Would only get with higher frame rate cameras, only of the times they really shine.

Maxis is right on this image being good enough for being in birds but would not get you as much feedback. Looking forward to the next one ... and big Congrats !!!!

    Great timing and pose.
The whites are indeed a bit hot, as mentioned.

What an excellent capture, Jean. Your patience has paid off. The light looks as though it was a bit harsh, but I think your exposure was spot on. The detail in the entire picture, but especially the wings, is great. It's nice to see your work on BPN, and I agree that this picture belongs in the Avian forum!
