Photo from New Years Day. Took a walk with my father and daughter (both keen photographers) and we were entertained by the antics of some of the new crop of juveniles that have recently fledged. This one is practicing the essential gull skill of creating a raucous noise while taking off. The red color of the bill and legs is just starting to develop. I like the light, water drops, open bill and tongue with strand of gull drool :).

A very good way to spend the first day of the year Tony. A couple of months ago one of my relatives traveled to New Zealand for her Honey Moon and bring back to Spain a full frame portrait of a very cooperative gull (taken with a D4o and 18-55). A beautifull adult of this species against a beautifull blue BG. You can´t imagine how many "wows" I did... (she also showed me terrific images of black swans, keas and some other species).

I think that the most I like in your image is the action and the cristal clear drops of water. The light is very nice and the open bill is a bonus. Very well done!

Tony great position in the frame. I love the water splash dripping off the legs, the low light and the open bill. I wish that this one was in my collection.

Beautifully done! Love the comp and it is razor sharp. Trailing water puts this over the top.
