    I agree with Sid about the need for more room. The Bg is a bit saturated to my taste but I love the green eye and the golden skin. Neat eye contact and very good textures. Try to desaturate the Bg a bit but keeping color in the bird using two different layers in PS. Stuart I do not know if this is a crop but if you have more space at the top of the frame I think that you could go for a vertical crop that may work nicely on this image :-)

    Agree with the above.
    I'd also try to even out the tonality on the BKGR. It's a bit too contrasty for me.

    I like the pose and agree with the others about pulling back the saturation and contrast, especially on the background.
