    A Portrait I made in Southafrica.
    Does it work with the grass?

    Mark III Canon 100 - 400
    f 5.6 / 1/1250 sec / ISO 640

    I like the crop idea, light and eye contact. I find the OOF grass in front of the bird distracting.

    I agree with Axel...this is a very nice shot and the grass works, but the one in front draws too much attention. Love the eye though.

    I don't mind the grass too much, Rosl. It is typical of the habitat and I like how the stems in front of the bird echo it's posture. The eye of these birds (and the related Australian Bush Curlew) is quite stunning. My suggestion is a crop from above to lift the bird in the image.

    So you had a graet time in South Africa Rosl. A beautifull spicies at his natural enviroment.

    The OOF grass overlapinig the bird is a bit distracting and I like a lot the crop idea. It really works from my point of view
