One of my goals for 2009 was to photograph a male Northern Harrier. I got my wish on New Years day when this male flew past me. As an added bonus, if I am not mistaken, this harrier has it's juvy plumage and is changing to adult plumage. Shot in diffused light with snow on the ground reflecting light up.

You reached your goal to quickly. Now what? Nice shot though. I love Harriers. Ive been trying for a couple of months to get decent shots of one, male or female.

Killer light and wing position. And pretty sharp on the face. How big a crop?

Thanks Artie! This is a 30% crop, the bird was pretty close.

Fantastic capture david, I love the soft light, the wings pose and the beautiful eye. More room at the right would improve the composition IMO. A really sweet image to be proud of :-)
