Default Barn Owl In Flight In No Light

Met up with Roman, David Mills, and Paul Marcellini in Flamingo today to try to get shots of the Barn Owl as he works the fields. It came out after the sun went down and the lighting was horrible.

I was surprised I got somewhat of a clear shot here ...

    40d + 500 4.0L on tripod / wimberley II

    40% crop

Used Nik Sharpener on the owl and noise ninja. . .

The green background is a beautiful color contrast with the owl and you've caught a nice pose, Michael. On my monitor I'm seeing alot of noise in the bg.

    Nice capture Michael,
The owl is place just right in the frame, I like the semi motion blur, giving a sense of speed...I too agree on running noise reduction in the background...

You did well to get a shot Michael. Love these owls too. Was it hard to track in low light with the 40D?

Axel, big difference. Did you run Noise Ninja on it?

Jackie, it was tough to track it. the sun had set and the background was pretty busy and the owl was going all over the place and wouldn't perch ... I bet if I had a 400 5.6L and handheld it, I'd have better ability to track it than I did with the 500 on the tripod.
