It's been a long time since I've posted, so I just wanted to say "Happy New Year" to all. This was at Ding Darling this morning.

    Canon 40D, 1/1000, f/5.6, Canon 100-400 at 400.

Nice pose but perhaps not the prettiest perch. I'll bet it was a bit warmer at Ding than here this morning

This would work well as a vertical by eliminating most of the empty space at right. The body may be pointing left, but with the head contorted and actually pointing to the right you don't need all that space at left. You could also crop a bit at bottom to get rid of the horizontal part of the perch that is running along the edge. Toning down the bright tip of perch is also something to consider. Overall very nice. I like the preening pose :-) Happy New Year to you too!!
