    Default Shhhhhhhh! (Saw Whet)

    Model = Canon EOS-1D Mark II N

    F Number = F8
    Exposure Program = Manual
    ISO Speed Ratings = 400
    Metering Mode = Spot
    Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
    Focal Length = 400mm
    Color Space = sRGB
    Exposure Mode = Manual exposure
    Handheld using Bushhawk

    Found this Saw Whet Owl yesterday at Amherst Island. Saw 5 Snowy Owls, at least 5 Long Eared Owls, 3 Short Eared Owls, 1 Boreal Owl. 5 species of Owls in one day, not bad. :D

    I took many photos of this little fella and was surprised how many were sharp. (slow shutter speed) Quite a few were taken at 1/160 and 1/200. I have most images with eyes open, but thought this looked pretty cool.

    I also love how the feathers cover their eyelids.

    Superb!!! detail on the face is fantastic, looked like you found yourself a very obliging Owl..
    I managed 3 different Owl's when I was out the other day, Barn, Little and a Short Eared Owl...

    Lovely work.

    The light and the details look very good to me ! I think the head angle somehow makes this shot of this closed-eye owl works. Love the feel of this photo, too !!

    I love this one, Jody! Kinda want to pat the little fella on the head... I especially like the closed eyes and eyelid feather detail, also the dark shadowy exposure. Great memorable image!

    Very peaceful Jody. Looks like the owl is trying to enjoy some sunlight warmth...twas quite cold yesterday!!
