Well, here's one of the Hillsborough River to give an idea of how beautiful it is. I don't do many landscapes because I just can't seem to get them to capture what I see. In this case, I thought the light was good, and my husband, Bob, in his kayak, and his blue shirt in contrast with the colors seem to give it scale.... What do you think?
Amy, nice location and nice shot. I wonder what it would have looked like as a vertical? It might have given more height to the trees and length to the river. A step to the left ( which would probably put you in the river, right?) would have cleared the stump blocking your husband's back.
What can really help images like this is a foreground object like a moss covered rock or tree stump. Good idea to include your husband to give an idea of scale.
Looks like a great place to explore
Thanks, Barry. Actually, I was in a kayak in the river already, so a step to the left would have put me back on the ground - as I was in a bend. Shooting from a kayak always presents special challenges. I'm still not ready to go buy a set of waders. :)
By the time I had drifted to a good vantage point to clear that log - Bob had gone around another bend.
Hi Amy,
I like the composition, I would tone down the whites on the trees just a tad, not too much...and increase the saturation only by 1 percent...and see if you like the results...
You did capture the mood and do like the framing Only wish it would have been earlier to catch Bob and the Kayak !!! Would also like to place him with room to paddle into !! Beautiful area !!
call me a maniac, but i love this program and just wanted to see what it looked like as a pseudo-HDR. duplicated image twice and tweaked exposures in the duplicates.
i think it's pretty cool! dont mind me. i'm just playing.:o
Hey Harold, Thanks for spending some time with my image. I'm going to have to wrap my brain around the HDR thing soon. The repost really evened out the tones.
Hi Amy, Nice photo and good for you to take it. Must be tricky trying to stow a paddle, get the camera out, compose and focus, meanwhile the centre of attention, while enjoying nature, is paddling away. It must have been fun. For me, Harold's repost seems to give the scene more sparkle and colour. I do like both.
