    Default Snowy Owl fix

    Attached Images Attached Images

I photographed this snowy owl under difficult weather and light conditions which meant I didnt have enough light to stop the wing blur. However I dont mind that since it seems to convey motion. What I do mind is the out of focus reed on the bottom left area.
Any thoughts on how to fix that? I was thinking of doing a tedious extensive cloning but there is probably a better way. Any help appreciated.

    Hi Barry,
Nice shot. It shouldn't take too long if you know how to do a Quick Mask. OK so Nonda beat me to it:)

    Hi Barry,
I like the composition and capture. I like the wing down position...you have good details and a very nice sharp eye...Nonda's repost is great...looking forward to your next one...

Nonda, will do. Been meaning to get it. I know something about quick mask but not to do this.

As for finding snowy owls to photograph, this year seems to be an irruption year so there are far more than usual further south. This owl I photographed is one of a pair about 15 mins west of NYC.

Thanks Gus, really enjoying this bird and hope it sticks around.

Great suggestions !!! Another vote for getting the CD Just the quick mask is worth the price !!!

btw also agree on the wing tips being no problem with a little motion blur Does add to the ambiance plus increasing the ISO for more shutter speed has its problems. btw do post the tech info !!

Hi Barry, A really excellent capture. I like the wingtips and repost. Good for you. I am pretty green at all of this and especially the pp'n. I purchsed both ABP I and II, Digital Basics and Aptats 1 for not a lot of money. It has been money extremely well spent for me.
I would be interested to have seen the camera/lens/setting details. It helps me understand things better.
Good luck on the next one. Dave

Hi Barry, I agree that the blurred wings bring a sense of motion here. Good capture and wings position.
