    Purple Sandpiper

    Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima
Lake Balaton, Hungary l November 2008

This is my last post for 2008 but there is a definitely a memorable story behind this image.

Purple Sandpiper has found for the first time in Hungary. This became the 400th bird species visited Hungary. Unfortunately the weather was more than ugly what you can see on the image. I tried to do my best to get some decent result. No flash used.

    Hope you like it.

I wish you all the best, good lights, nice birds and health for 2009!

    Cheers, Szimi

Szimi, Love the capture! Would try a Quick Mask on the bird and do another : Shadow/Higlight.

Excellent! Love the smooth watery feel of the rock and the "anti-slip" grip of the bird on it. Pointing your lens a little more to the right would have good IMO, but for a new bird sighting in your country this is way more than adequate!! :-)

Happy New year to you too!!
