    D1X, 600, ISO 250, f8 @ 1/500, -0.7EV.

    A perch placed over a drip pond during migration on the Upper Texas Coast helped get this image.

    Great exposure control and setting. The fanned tail makes this image really special.

    lovely photo of a redstart - great colors, head position, fanned tail, ... what not to like

    my dilemma would be the busy BG - i think the flower bloom on the right competes with the bird. i would have cloned out right branch, cropped up a bit on the bottom and extended out a bit on the left - - as sort of shown below

    Stunning image Alan and as mentioned the fanned tail puts this over the top. Love the wonderful detail and excellent exposure as well as a great perch and composition. Love it Alan !!

    FANTAILtastic !! I like the original for the following reasons. I think the branches offer a frame for the head. The blooms also form a triangle which adds to the overall image IMHO. Also (not knowing if any other clean up to the image has been made) for some of the purist out there it would be nice to be able to respond in the negative to the question "Was anything added or taken away from the image ? "

    Very ,very nice image as posted Alan.I like the sense of balance the blooms contribute to the overall composition

    one of your best, and certianly one of my all time favorite nature images.
