I took this photo at Bolsa Chica using a Canon 1-D MK IIn, 500F4 with a 1.4TC, Flash with Better beamer on a tripod.

Good catch! Love the ripples below the beak. A step to the left to give a pure lack BG may have been an option - I find the vertical division of the image by the BG distracting. Good option to use the flash - pity it didn't create a catchlight in the eye.
