Great capture Alan... The subject itself is great with a beautiful backround. The mossy limb just adds to it.

A nice capture, with great eyes. A little too much limb for me, but otherwise the moss adds a nice touch.

One question: when did you take this beautiful photo? The Great Gray is #1 on my list of birds that I want to photograph.

My question was the same as Doug's!! This year? Or "the" year at Sax-Zim a few winters ago?

My winter birding trip destination may depend on your answer! ;-)

Different subject matter for you, but nicely done, as usual. My only other comment is that the eyes look a bit brighter than natural. Very striking, nonetheless.

Thank Doug. This was taken during the Winter invasion of 04/05.

Thanks for the response. I suspected that that was going to be your answer.

Sweet opportunity very well used and a fantastic bird. I agree with David Cramer on maybe a tad to much limb.

I just was about to ask if you are here now, until I read further down! I was going to say I will be back in the bog New Years Day and possibly again this Saturday as the Great Grays and NHO's are around (not in the same numbers).

    Did I mention, Great image!!

Great perch with a lovely smooth B/G, love the pose too, you can see the concentration in the Owl's expression...

    Superb.
