I never thought it would happen to me! I formatted a CF card before saving the images to a lap top or hard drive.
The images were from a rare family reunion this past weekend. I got distracted by the somewhat controlled chaos around me and I formatted the card before uploading them to my ColorSpace 0. Once I discovered my error I ran the recovery sequence provided on the ColorSpace and recovered all the lost images!:) It even recovered images I made over the summer that were at one time captured to the same card even though the card had been formatted at least 4 times since then.
I remember reading in Artie's "Birds as Art II" that this would happen to us all at one time or another and didn't believe it. Well, I am a believer now. I am just thankful that the people who write the recovery software are good at it. My images, and my butt, are saved!:D
So, all BPN members should be sure you have some means of data recovery with you. You just never know when Brain Fade  will attack and you will need to recover images from a formatted memory card.
Thanks Ed !!! Glad you were able to recover images !!!
Back at the start of digital I had an IBM Micro drive and failed. I had looked at the images but did not download ... at that time with 1.1 USB it was painfully slow. I had important things so I called to see what options I had ... most companies doing the recovery would charge thousands of dollars, it was incredible !!! Glad things have changed !!!
