    Happy Holidays:)

This hummingbird is from the new Amazon exposition at the Miami Metrozoo. The bg is less than adecuate but, should the picture be discarded, photoshoped or just lived alone. Please advise

Alberto, I like the colors of this photo, but it is also one of the colors that seems to create a problem: the red flowers. The red is so overwhelming in the sense that it is too big and draws a lot of attention from the rest of the photo. Considering that the hummingbird pretty much falls into the same color scheme as the rest of the background, I would think that in order for the bird to stand out, it may need some more light on it.

    My two cents.

    Alberto,
Welcome back...nice to have you back...a belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and your family...:)
I like the capture, but its a bit busy, and the red tones and white blotches in the background are very distracting. I made a few changes to your base composition...I started by cropping it into a pano, to zero the attention on your little guy. I diffused and toned down the whites and mid-tones in the background, blurred it to eliminated the noise and then liquefied the colors to blend them into a soft pale mellow liquid flow. The bird I selective sharpened the eye area and along the contour of the wings...By the way I like the blurred wings...see if this present well with you...

As a personal rule of thumb, I never throw or discard any of my images, or old photos; I feel that by revisiting them from time to time, I learn from my mistakes, and also get a different point of view...:D
SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, NO...KEEP YOUR IMAGE; ITS A GOOD REFERENCE FOR YOUR FUTURE CAPTURES...

i agree with desmond about the red flowers dominating and i like some of the things gus did with the repost, especially the bg. flash fill would have been a huge help here.

Hi Alberto, great capture. Good advice given by Gus, to never throw out a file. You never know when you may come up for different ideas for PP.

Nice shot my friend. Excellent details and colors. Subject is very sharp. Could go either ways with the original and Gus's re post.
    Congrats
