This Hawk is allowing me to approach. He has been around my yard in Atlantic Beach, Fl for a couple of years now. Taken with a Canon 20D, 300/2.8, f-2.8, ISO 200, 1/250, AV mode, Flash-Canon Speedlite 580EX @-1 for fill light. Crop for composition.

Nice to get this close and have a nice angle on a raptor, Jack. BG is lovely but could use some NR. I would prefer a little more room around the bird, especially on the left to allow some room for it to look into. The light ones are clipping as presented but probably recoverable in the original. The dark point could be raised a little to achieve a solid shadow under the folded wing. The image looks soft as present and this is partially a sharpening for web issue as I assume the eye was sharp in the original capture. Part of it is due to limited DOF at 2.8. May be worth pushing your ISO to 400 to let you stop down a little. If the bird is co-operating keep at it - look forward to more

I like the pose and BG and agree regarding more room and more sharpening. Higher ISO and stopping down more might have been a good idea.
