Hi Maurice
I have and use both the stand alone Noise Ninja and the free Imagenomic Noiseware.
I may not have Noise Ninja set-up properly as it is sometimes too strong, then I use Noiseware set on Landscape.
When I first went digital a couple of years ago a guy in England on a Canon forum did great work with Neat Image on some of my pictures.
Hope you get better comparisons from a more experienced editor.
Cheers: Ian Mc
I've used both Neat Image and Noise Ninja. I'm currently using the plug-in version of Noise Ninja for CS4. Both work great.
Upcoming Workshops: Bosque del Apache 2019, Ecuador 2020 (details coming soon)

IMO, both are excellent products, though Noise Ninja may be a bit less user friendly at first with selective works. Topaz Denoise is another product gaining a lot of acceptance
I am downloading the trial version of Neat Image. Gonna give it a whirl!
You should also try out Nik Dfine v2.0 I find it to be the best for noise reduction.
They have a trial version on the website

I have been using Noise Ninja for a few years and like it a lot. It took me a bit to learn the various options and often I use only brushes to selectively sharpen. My sense is that Neat Image is equally good.
One hint is that using Adobe ACR, I utilise the sharpening function in ACR and skip the "capture sharpening" step in Noise Ninja. The sharpening algorithm in ACR was written by Bruce Fraser and company and is essentially the same as the capture sharpening in NN. So, one less step to do after opening in PS.
After processing my images I sharpen using the "Creative Sharpening" menu and save it maintaining the layers. When I present the image, either in print or for the web, I re-size and then choose the appropriate sharpening method.
Hope this helps.
Neat Image seemed a lot more friendly to me, in terms of interface and also in terms of results.
I use Noise Ninja as well, primarily for heavy NR on backgrounds, always using layers and masks. Quite a powerful tool.
In terms of personal preference, Neat Image wins for me.
Neat Image has just released a 64bit version 6 plugin for CS4 64bit. It is very fast with CS4 64bit on Vista 64.
The plugin does an excellent job with my Canon EOS 50D files.
I use both as Plug-ins on CS3 with success.
Both products are excellent.
I use Noiseaware Pro by Imagenomic and it's fantastic!
When looking for Noise software, read in Scott Kelby's book that he prefered "Noiseware Pro." plug in.
Bought it and like it very much.
Uncle Gus
Will Noiseware Pro plug in work with Vista 64 bit.
Thanks
