I like the composition and rear pose capture Mr. O,
The colors and details are good. could have used fill flash to lighten up the details in the shadows in the tail area...I like the dark background and the perch with the oof leaves that add a nice touch...congrats...

What a little beauty! And a rare pose. I can only remember one other time I saw a shot of one of these little dudes with wings at rest.

I experimented here with toning down the brighter green in the background and adding a bit of background light above that to bring out the subject a little more strongly. Also opened the shadows on the bird's tail a little.

Very, very nice capture. Like everything about the bird. The only thing I'd work on now is the leaves. As bg they are a bit distracting and detract from the rest of the image for me.
    Exquisite.

Thanks, Dave. The danger of animated gifs is, of course, that gifs have limited colors and don't portray gradients very well. But if the image stands up as a gif, the changes seem more evident to me than when they're posted side by side. Like this ...

Really nice Oscar. Great details and lighting. Well done. Interesting reposts by David, just a matter of taste, but do like the original very much.

    Hi Oscar:

Your original shows the Broad-billed Hummingbird as he is, rich vibrant colors, sharp and well defined as I see him up in Madera Canyon every week.

Thanks for sharing your lovely capture.

    Uncle Gus
