crawfish? pretty cool to get that claw in there. looks like the bird just needs a little sharpening. exposure seems perfect to me. the color of the bird seems right but there seems to be a yellowish color cast to the rest of the image or maybe a tad over saturated? if you could smooth out that bg a little, i think it would make it a lot better.

not sure about the birds placement in the frame but i do like the pose!! nice job!!!

    Hi James,
I like the composition and capture. The first thing that catches my eye is the busy, prominent, saturated background which takes the attention away from your subject. I adjusted the image by toning down the mid - tones and blurring 12 percent of the background to subdue or tame it down; also liquefied the tones and hues, so that they transition into one another smoothly. I boosted the saturation and contrast just a notch and selective sharpened the eye...see if this presents better to you...

Great base compostion James. Find the BG a little competing. I would sharpen the eye a little and try to make the BG a little less prominent. Great behavioural capture and great eye contact!

I like the rework, but I suspect that the focus was on the branch, making the extra head sharpening difficult to accomplish without artifacts.
