    Default Sweden in february

    Hi all

I'll be in Sweden from 12 till 22 februay 2009. I'll be photographing landscapes in the Kvikkjokk Area (Tarradalen) for 3 days during a private dog sled tour. After that trip I want to photograph in the Jokkmokk area and stora Sjofallet. Main targets are landscapes and northern light, but I also would love to photograph birds and mammals. Anybody around here knows what to expect (Golden eagles, owls,Talgoxe, talltita, lappmes, lavskrika, reindear, elk, red fox, wolverine). What are my best oppertunities to get them for the lens? Any specific areas.

    I appreciate your help

    Kind regards,

    Hillebrand

Well, I´m from Sweden, but live about 1300 km from the Jokkmokk area, so it´s a little hard for me to share good info about this area in wintertime (I have been there in summer tough).

But I can tell you that eagles are very hard if you get hold of a hide. I know about a hide that you can rent as a photographer:

This place is situated much more close to the coastline, outside the city of Skellefteå, and that is quite far from where you are going.

The passerines that you asked about you find at feeders in winter. Check the Swedish birdsighting homepage for the latest news:

The mammals you want are rare, exept for the reindeer that seek lower grounds in winter. Elk and Red Fox are also possible, but wolverine you need much, very much luck to get. I know people that has spent months in the Swedish mountain chain without seeing noting more than a footprint.
