    A sweet image Lance,
I like the details and the colors on your bird....the soft pale background compliments him well. you have a good head angle and good eye contact, with an ultra low angle of capture...very nice...good show...

Very pretty bird Lance. Exposure looks great and love the eye with the red ring around it. Like Al's suggestion about framing.

I like the pose and low angle. The whites have a blueish cast. Here's a repost where I try to whiten the whites and tone down the BG a bit. How do you like it?

Hi Doug - whites are better IMHO - didn't even notice it until you pointed it out - thanks :)

I think this could be the best dotterel so far. I find the bg very attractive.

Very nice, Lance. Just in a spirit of experimenting, I pulled the cast even more than Doug did toward the warm tones and darkened the background more with a gradient, so it is darkest at the top. Seems to help pull the eye downward into the subject .. to me anyway.

Good Capture Lance ,love it . Lance i see that you used a 300mm F2.8 , i cant afford one for now but i was thinking about getting a 300mm F4 , i was wondering if you could add to the taught of getting a F4 should i save up for the 2.8 or get the F4 for now. Thanks in advance.

Hi Glenn - The 2.8 is expensive - the F4 is a good lens - basically I got the 2.8 so that I could add the 1.7 X converter to it and keep autofocus (You loose 2 stops of light with the converter) Most of the time the 300 by itself is not enough reach for me, but I also wanted something that could be handheld. - I also have a sigma 300-800.

Thanks. Actually, with an image like this -- clean edges around the subject -- it's quite easy to mask out the subject and adjust the background.
