    I probably did everything wrong here, so my question is how should I have really done a shot like this? The crane was moving slow but not too slow and the reflection was pretty intense. Thanks

    I think you did pretty well, Gary. I prefer a rectangular crop and might have tried a vert composition on this. It might be improved if you took a few steps to the left as the bird appears to be angled into the scene a bit. It's a strong image as is though.

    You did a good job in this high contrast situation.

    I agree with Dan and prefer a vert comp as well. This would include more of the yellows and more reflection and less of the dark areas. Image could use a little sharpening around the bill/face.

    I like the striding pose and high contrast and would tone down the highlights some more.
