Lovely pose, light and BG, Craig. A little more DOF would have been nice but you were already at ISO 800 and 1/160s. Have tried a crop to decentre the bird and then burnt in the perch and left side to try and balance the darkness in the BG on the right. Some noise and JPG artifact in the BG probably from the slightly small file size - posting as close to the 200Kb limit will help minimise this.

Great eye contact, beautiful bird and good BG, too. Another vote for de-centering the bird. What is the white part in the plumage above the eye? Keep them coming!

Thanks Tony, I quite like the repost I'll have a play with the full file when I get some free time. Unfortunately the bird was a litle tight in frame @600 (rarely happens) I'll try adding some cavas to the right and repost.

Axel, the white marking on the birds head looks to me like dust or dirt.

    Cheers
    Craig.

Good job Craig. The sharpness is first rate and the BG looks great. I like it.

I prefer the rectangle crop over the square but I agree with the de-centering. Maybe use the first and push the subject to the left?

The eye focus is outstanding and the reflection in the eye is an added bonus, the colours are super and the bg colour compliments the bird very nice.
