this is Old Sheldon Church in Sheldon, SC. stopped by on my way to NC yesterday morning for a few images. a really neat old place that was built in the 1740's. it's a must visit if you are in the area. only a few minutes off of I-95.

Thanks for looking. Comments and critiques are appreciated.
Looks very good Doctor. I'm partial to this type of architecture and old churches...:) It must be cold up there...stay warm...my regards to Jill; and I'll see you when you get back...Merry Christmas...be safe and God Bless...
Interesting and strangely imposing structure. B&W seems perfect for bringing out the grouting between the bricks. I think the grouting really pulls your eye into the image. The open space inside the bldg walls seems surreal, quite unusual - not sure what I think about the overall composition and not sure if I can add any suggestions.
Amazing place, well captured
Cheers

thanks everyone!! really appreciate the comments! will be back on here soon to make some comments on everyone elses pics. i'm pilfering some internet time here real quick.
Like the B & W Harold especially with a bit of red in it. Nice composition. Would you straighten the one pillar in the center a bit or is it just my eyes??? Enjoy your holidays.
jackie, you may be right. i had a tough time with these due to the distortion and need for a tilt/shift lens. it's impossible to make all of them look perfect due to the restraints of the lens but the center here may be crooked and can be straightened.
I knew I'd be able to tell you "you need to straighten" one day to the head of the "Horizon Angle Police". :) Interesting structure, was it burnt down during the Civil War or something??
:D:D thanks jackie....when i first started coming to BPN i hung out in the landscape forum a lot and the horizon line thing just got burned into my head!!
the church was burned in 1779 by the british. rebuilt in 1826 and burned again in 1865 by the federal army. it was named for ancestral home of the Bull family in warwickshire, england.
