Love the feather detail, but this photo has some issues. It really needs eye contact to work. I would crop this as a vertical and remove much of the perch, which is fairly distracting. I look forward to seeing another view of this beautiful bird.
Lovely color. Great bird. Sharpest focus is on the bird's back... Perch is horrific. (Sorry, but with all of the torn up and shredded wood, it is.) Over-the-shoulder images work best with a perfect 90 degree head turn.

Thanks for the feedback. I will clean up the perch. Always try to focus on the eye, but hand held may have moved. Here is the other head on view quickly. It has issues on perch on I will clone out the torn branch and the faint wire in the Bkg. Curious on the comments on the exposure and sharpness of the bird.
Also, I need NR in bkg and have not been happy with NR in PSE 7--any suggestions?
Bird looks sharp, maybe even a little oversharpened. With regard to noise, try the Noise Ninja or Neat Image plug-in for Photoshop. They both do a great job. The exposure looks OK, but the top of the bill looks a little hot. This image has many of the same issues as your earlier post. Eye contact is better, but not great. The perch is still a distraction.
I think that the pose, the head angle, and the position of the bird on the perch in the second image are way better than in the first. Yes, some similar problems but at least we have a good luck at the bird.

Thanks to both of you. I tried to "cool" down the head. I will reopen in ACR and see if that works. With your input, I will work on my Golden-browed Chlorophonia which has a great head angle (IMO) and post it soon. Captured it about 15 minutes before the Toucanet
And Arthur, I have ordered your CD and it should be on its way. I am looking forward to it.
Hi Dave, nice sharpness on the bird, I agree with the above comments. As for noise reduction, I really like Noise Ninja. Here's a repost after running Noise Ninja on the BG only (twice). I selected the bird with a quick mask, then applied the NR with zero sharpening and all other filter sliders set at 12.
Great bird and good details and you already got great advice. In PS 7 there is no noise removal tool. You could try to blur the background with a setting of 2.0 pixels.
Dave, you've received lots of good feedback on the emerald toucanet. I'm looking forward to seeing your golden-browed chlorophonia. That is absolutely my favorite bird to photograph down here, though getting a good look at one is difficult.
