Well, Merry Christmas everyone! (If you don't celebrate Christmas just let me wish you a wonderful last week of the year!
My time zone is ahead of almost everyone's else so it is already Xmas-eve here! Sorry for the cheat-chat but I'm excited coz I bought a camera for my youngest son, he is 9 and I was lucky enough to find a Nikon D50 in mint condition with just 1066 shots on the meter! Well, now we'll go looking for birds together and he won't be touching my D300! First task, on sunday will go to shoot Oriental Ibis. 4 of them came to my city, they are in a cage so you won't see them unless I manage to get on where you can't see the hand of man!
Now to the shot. This little girl. Nothing fancy. But at least with your help I'll find out what I did wrong so I might be able to avoid it next time!
Thank you for your comments!
D300 - AF-S 300 f/4 + Kenko TC 1.5x, AP wide open (5.6), 1/400 sec.
I like the pose and coloring you captured on this duck. There is something about the eye that is bothersome, maybe needs a little more sharpening? I'm far from knowledgeable in that area. The calm water gives a tranquil feel to the composition. Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy those photo outings with your son.
Love the feather detail and eye contact. It is Xmas morning in NZ at present and the kids are all getting ready to attacks the prezzies! Well done with the camera for your son. Some of my most enjoyable times in the field are with my daughter or father.
Glenda... My wife hates the eye too! She says it's scary! :) I really don't know what's wrong with it but I will assume is the saturation as Axel pointed.
Thank you Bill! I'm trying! Believe me! :)
Axel, Tony! Thank you! I am really looking forward to go out shooting with him. he seems to like it. That could be fun. My older son is 16, though age and there is nothing we can do together. All he cares about is video games and g/f. I don't mind the g/f but drives me crazy to see him play all day long! Thank you!
