This one was taken in 2007 with my old 300D. The settings were -

    Canon 300D with EF 75-300 F4-5.6 IS
    1/640 sec 300mm F/5.6 ISO 200 Exp Bias +0.66

Would like to get feedback on the composition and if anything else I could have done better.

I like the eye contact and head angle and would have preferred more space at the top and more at the bottom for the legs and 'virtual feet'. A lower angle might have been good, too. I could see this as a vertical crop, too.

Light, head angle and eye contact are great. I agree with Axel re more room and possible vertical composition. As it stands I would crop from the right to accentuate the diagonal line of the bill. Also cleaned up the "flyaway hair" and specular highlights on the breast.

That's a step in the right direction toward including the whole bird. I would prefer even more at the bottom if you have the legs (even if they are virtual legs in the water) and a little less above. Something has happened to the colour saturation (and ?contrast) in this image - I prefer the pose and colour in the original.

I agree with Tony, are the different colors due to the fact that this is a different image of this bird?
