I have attempted some PhotoShop work on this one. I have made my first foray into the Sharpening Tool, Unsharp Mask. Very confusing name but after reading into it it sort of makes sense. I also tried to reduce the brightness of the incredibly busy background (still v.busy). Anyway...hit me with it!

Rob, Have you learned the quick mask yet? That' really important-you could quick mask bird select BG and then blur BG w/o touching the bird, Then in s/h you could tone down some of the areas-some of the snow looks hot-You have a good HA and details in the bird are good-Happy Holidays!!

Hi Rob The secret here is starting with a strong image Your subject is partly in shadows so it make PS work challenging, even illumination is the key !!

Which version of PS are you using? Do you use LR?

With the new version of LR things are a lot simpler particularly curves and you have brushes for lightening areas, real neat.

Image wise you did have a good head angle with fine eye contact, good placement of bird in frame (might want a little more room) and good exposure. The most detracting part is the steep angle, seldom will you make a pleasing image with a steep angle ... up or down !! Looking forward to many more.

Excellent advise given by Mr. Forns Rob,
My advise to you is to constantly watch the lighting, track the sun and try to keep the sun at your back...
Wishing you and your family a Happy Holiday...

Hi Rob - all covered above - a lower angle will really help - yep it means you are going to get dirty and wet - but you will be amazed at the difference it will make.
    keep em coming :)
