    Hi Folks:

This little Male House Finch is one of our resident birds who is with us year around perched on a piece of dried dead Cholla cactus that can be found in abundance in Green Valley. I felt he looked best in a Pano?

He sure does Gus and you could even take just bit more of the bottom !!!

Only suggestion here is lining up the good sun angle, would have eliminated the shadow from the beak and darker area around the face. Excellent image !!

That's a beauty, and sharp as a pin.

One suggestion: The background colors are fairly bright and saturated, and that competes with the subject. A simple way to mute a background is to select it, then open a curves adjustment layer and flatten the curve a bit. This reduces saturation and contrasts within the background. Here's the adjustment I used on this one:

    Uncle Gus,
Very nice capture, I like the placement of your subject in frame. He is razor sharp with good color rendition...For my personal taste, the background could go a little less saturated...well done Sir...:)

Gus, Beautiful Male House Finch! They are one of my favorites-details and colors are superb!!! Love it! Might be tempted to get rid of blue near head

Nice one Gus. Good detail and the eye looks spot on. I like the perch and also the idea of a bit tighter crop on the bottom; it seems to give more room for the little guy.

    Hi Folks:

Thank you very much for all your good comments, and David's mini tutorial (David you have a lovely website)

I took the more accurate Pano advice, the consensus of the blue by the head, and evened up the background using Brush tool and super low opacity.

I think all of the comments were spot on, and improved the image?

Thanks for the re post David Well done !! Subtle changes making a total positive impact !!!

Have you had a chance to use the new feature ins CS4 particularly adjusting the curves on the image itself. For the saturation the same can be done with the new dialog box !! Mayor new features !!

    .. great website Congrats !!!

Thank you, Alfred! I haven't upgraded to CS4 yet, so I haven't experienced the new features that I've been reading about. I'm looking forward to trying it. But, for some reason, I'm always one of the last dog's home on upgrades!

    Many thanks.
