    I took this photo of the adult female Mallard last year. Does this crop work? Settings are -

    Canon 300D with EF 75-300 F4-5.6 IS
    1/640 Sec 300mm @f/5.6 ISO 200 Exp Bias +.33

    I like the idea and would give it a bit more room at the top. Too bad the nictitating membrane partially covers the eye.

    The crop largely works although I'd probably add a little canvas up top. I wish the eye were better illuminated.

    I wish you were in front of the duck, maybe one step to the left would help the eye contact and head angle.

    I really like the idea.
    As mentioned the crop is a little tight I think. Also there is some kind of haze artifacts from S-H or cropping?

    The re-post is better but has a bit too much on the top for me. Maxis's advice to move to your left to better parallel the head is a good o ne. It looks as if it is the actual eyelid not the nictitating membrane. And option would be to Qm the front half of the eye and flop it... If that fits with ones personal ethics. At the least lightening the iris would help.
