I think that's what it is. This colorful hummer perched on a patch of heliconia while waiting its' turn at the feeder. It may be too busy for some tastes. Costa Rica.
    Canon 1D MarkIII, 70-200f2/8 lens at 200mm. ISO 800, f/8, 1/125, flash set at -2/3.

Beautiful image of the hummer but I find the bright Bg over powers the image.

The BG is busy but it doesn't bother me in this case since the bird is very prominent. Great exposure control and details. I wish for a lower angle and would add some canvas on the left.

    Default background

One thing I have learned from my recent posts on BPN and from photographing with flash in low-light: the flash really accentuates the saturation of close backgrounds like the flowers and leaves in this image. I will be aware of that from now on and desaturate after masking the subject. Thanks.

    Hi Susan,

Good critiques. I would also remove some of the noise.

Sharpness is great and the colors are spectacular. Very nice overall. contrast is a little high for me.

You can run NR on the background to lessen the visibility of the noise.

I would like to see a little more room behind the tail.
