    Default Evening fishing

    Attached Images Attached Images

A white tailed sea eagle on its last fishing trip of the day.

This was taken on the first day of my trip to Norway and I thought that I had arrived in photographic heaven, the next day the weather changed and for the rest of the trip the sky was grey and dull.

Apart from a crop to the left hand side to move the eagle away from the centre the image, including colours, is as taken, (hand held from a small boat). I am not sure if the sun just sinking below the horizon is a distraction or not.

I would crop this to get rid of the slanting horrizon. Colors are great as is the action and the silhoutte.

I would straighten the horizon, but not crop it out. Yes, the sun is too low here and more of a distraction than anything else. Easy fix to eliminate it (QM, clone stamp, patch tool...whichever way is your favorite). Too bad this scene didn't happen a little before - with the sun up more this would have been quite spectacular. I don't know how much of a crop this already is but if the file can handle it I would crop even more at bottom and left.

Thank you for your comments, I did not notice that the horizon was not quite horizontal!!

The image has only had one minor crop so I could crop it as you suggest.

I was waiting for the eagle to appear whilst the sun was higher but to no avail and once the sun starts to disappear it seems to go very quickly

Very evocative image Michael, bringing back very fond memories of Flatanger - I can sympathise with you over the fact that the eagles do not seem to synchronise their appearances with optimum light conditions. Straightening the horizon is all I would do with this image.

I like the silhouette pose, light and would crop a bit tighter but keep the sunset and level the horizon.

Its a beautiful composition for me. Like the color in the background and the perfect position of the eagle.

A real winner as is. I would try a tighter crop, with and without the horizon to see how they look.
