Costa Rican rain forest: I don't know what kind of bats these are. Our guide explained they were females and members of a harem. They were resting on the underside of a large palm frond with a larger bat nearby. I had to point the lens straight up. The rain was pouring down, but the palm sheltered the camera and the bats. It could have been sharper if there was more light and I didn't have to hand-hold to get the angle. Still, I was thrilled to get this image.

Wow really neat image. Strong diagonal arrangement of the subjects. Techs well handled. If the bottom bat had better eye contact the image would be outrageous.....
Susan,
I love this composition. Love the patterns and the bats lined up along the diagonal accentuates it. The f10 aperture has helped here. I agree about the eye contact of the bottom guy. However, this is a lovely iimage. I can see some noise. I would also try reducing the saturation a bit. I would have been thrilled as well.

Yes, I believe thrilled would be the word! Gosh, what a find!!! I love the composition but agree that maybe a little less saturation might add even more to this. Imagine if you could have had a tripod here! Wow!!!
Susan I think that looks even more natural now with the brightness of the leaves toned down. I still can't get over this image! You really had a unique opportunity!
