    Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a great weekend. Here is a shot of a Northern Harrier, (female I think?) out at the river estuary. She was trying to be sneeky by partially covering herself and then swooping down to snatch up unsuspecting smaller birds in the snow. I managed to get within about 50 feet before she flew away.

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve

Perch and ice covered foliage are great. Adds a nice feel to the image. The bg is a bit dis-tracting IMHO.

The icy perch and pose are great. The bird looks a bit soft on my monitor and I might be tempted to clone out the dark parts in the BG.

So nice to see this species up close Steve! They really do have an owl-like face. I think the snow-covered surroundings nicely complement the bird. I would try to make the eye pop a bit more with some selective sharpening and maybe boost the contrast a little. Maybe a bit more room at the top?

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments on this shot. Here is another one with a different crop and the background cleaned up somewhat and a different head angle on the bird. I have left the crevice behind the bird in for environment sake.

    Steve
